Come and enjoy the Carolina Beach Street Arts Festival, a celebration of visual, culinary, and performing arts at the beach! Artist vendors from around the region will have their fine arts and crafts available for sale and will demonstrate their creative processes from iron pouring and blacksmith techniques to an interactive art area for the kids. Don't miss cooking demonstrations and educational programs conducted by local chefs, restaurants, and shops from using infused balsamic vinegars to spice up recipes to the proper way to throw a pizza pie. Artistic performances include comedic dueling pianos, jazz bands, salsa dancers with salsa dancing lessons and much more!

The tournament is open to USYS/Affiliate State Associations that play Challenge, Select, Classic and Premier for Boys U10-U18 and Girls U10-U14 league play. The annual soccer tournament features some of the best soccer teams in the region. Come and enjoy the opportunity to watch some excellent soccer in a friendly environment, enjoy the beach and enjoy the family atmosphere. Please note that this tournament is held at various fields throughout New Hanover County.

Annual Stoked To Go Out Pier-to-Pier Swim

The 3rd annual pier-to-pier swim. With an approximate distance between Johnny Mercers Pier and Crystal Pier being 1.7 miles, the race is just under 2 miles along with a beach start and finish. Race direction is determined on race day and announced at check-in. Race swim caps and timing chips are provided. Awards will be given for overall male & female and overall masters (40+) male & female along with Top 3 in several age categories. Spectators can watch the race anywhere along the beach between the piers.

Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, NC, presents Raise the Curtain!, a presentation of the original front theater curtain unveiled Oct. 12, 1858, during the premier opening at Thalian Hall. The 32-foot curtain painted by William Russell Smith, Hudson River-inspired Pennsylvania artist, will undergo conservation treatment while local artists paint a 19x32 replica of the venerable scene. From Mary Cassatt and Minnie Evans to Barbara Chase-Riboud and Shahzia Sikander, She Tells a Story  celebrates the work of women artists from the permanent collection at Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, NC. City Ballet Presents  Cinderella

Cinderella completes the City Ballet’s inaugural season as a resident ballet company at the Humanities and Fine Arts Center. One of the towering masterworks of 20th century classical ballet, Cinderella has been a staple of ballet companies around the world since its premiere in 1945. This original staging by City Ballet Artistic Director Andrea C. Hill juxtaposes fantasy and romance with poignant family drama, set to an incredible orchestral score by Sergei Prokofiev. This timeless tale delights and inspires all ages!

 

A City Ballet of Wilmington performance is a complete theatrical work of art, with engaging music, vivid scenery and costumes, and compelling stories and characters, all of which accompanies beautiful classical and contemporary ballet choreography performed by exquisitely trained dancers.
Over the past 20 years, Artistic Director and choreographer Andrea C. Hill has staged dozens of full-length classical and original ballets utilizing students of all ages and levels, from beginning to professional. Repertoire includes: Coppelia, Petrouchka, The Phantom of the Opera, Cinderella, The Firebird, Peter Pan, The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Crucible, and many more.

 

Silver Arts Exhibition and Sale - Call for Artists

Exhibition and Sale May 20 - 22, 2016 - The Wilmington Art Association invites ALL 2D and 3D artists to enter in the 2016 SilverArts statewide ART Competition for artists 50 and over.
